Opportunity Scholars Program Requirements Criteria
To be considered for a scholarship, you must complete the Eccles undergraduate scholarship application each year.
Annual Undergraduate Scholarship Application
- Applications open on Jan. 15 – March 18, 2026
- Complete and submit the electronic application by March 18, 2026.

To maintain active status in the Opportunity Scholars Program (OSP), you must meet the following requirements:
- Admission: You must be admitted to the Opportunity Scholars Program to participate.
- Financial Need: Demonstrate your financial need through federal student aid (FAFSA). Or, if you are an undocumented or non-FAFSA eligible student, please complete the Student Aid Estimator and email a copy of your results to financialaid@utah.edu with the subject line: Need Analysis for Opportunity Scholars.
- Enrollment Status: Currently enrolled full-time at the University of Utah or have been enrolled within the past two semesters.
- Business Major: Pursuing a business major or a recipient of the Hometown Scholars or HOPE Scholarship.
- Academic Performance: Maintain a University of Utah cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Community Engagement: Actively contribute to the OSP community through volunteer work, participation in mentoring, engagement in monthly activities, and a strong commitment to academic excellence at the Eccles School. For a complete list of events, click here.
- Annual Scholarship Application: Complete the undergraduate scholarship application every year. Missed the deadline? Submit the general scholarship application, as scholarships may become available later in the Fall.
