Business Scholars Merit Scholarship
Fall 2022 Cohort and Prior
Please note: The 2023-2024 academic year was the final award year for the merit scholarship program at the Eccles School. We will continue to honor merit scholarships for students admitted to Business Scholars in the Fall 2022 cohort and prior.
The Business Scholars Undergraduate Merit Scholarship is renewed annually, and there is no separate application to apply. For the 2024-25 academic year, this scholarship will automatically apply to your tuition based on your University of Utah cumulative GPA.* Eligibility is determined at the end of the Spring 2025 Semester. Scholarship amounts will be determined based on the GPA requirements in your freshman Business Scholars admissions letter and the cohort year you were admitted into the program.

*Your award will be disbursed to your student tuition account in two equal payments: half of the total amount applied in Fall, and the other half applied in Spring after all previous awards have been applied.

- Must register as a full-time undergraduate student for both Fall and Spring Semesters (register and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester).

- Must maintain a minimum cumulative University of Utah GPA as determined in your Business Scholars admissions offer letter and the cohort year you were admitted into the program, which will be confirmed once per year in May after spring grades are posted.
- We do not round U of U cumulative GPAs on the cusp of any awarding level. The only exception is if an instructor submits a change of grade form that raises the student’s cumulative GPA.
- Must be a declared Pre-Business, Intermediate Business, or Business major. Business minors are ineligible and will not be considered.

- This scholarship cannot be applied to fees, housing, books, travel, learning abroad programs*, insurance, or graduate-level coursework. *Merit scholarships cannot be applied to any learning abroad program, including Eccles Global and the University Asia Campus.
- Recipients cannot pre-select their award level each year; rather, your merit scholarship is determined by your Business Scholars admissions letter and the cohort year you were admitted into the program.
- Graduating seniors may receive this scholarship at less than full-time status for their final semester, in which the total scholarship amount will be prorated. Students must contact us at scholarships@eccles.utah.edu to make this exception.
