Opportunity Scholars Program Application
Application Requirements
- First-Generation: Your parents have not graduated from a four-year higher education institution in the U.S. You are the first in your immediate family to attend college.
- Need: You have a demonstrated financial need, as evidenced through federal student aid. If you do not qualify for federal student aid, please still submit your Opportunity Scholars application. If you have any questions, contact Jason Atherton.
- GPA: University of Utah cumulative grade point average is greater than 3.0. Continued eligibility in the program is dependent on maintaining a GPA greater than 3.0.
Application Process
To apply, complete the following steps:
- Complete and submit the electronic application.
- Send an electronic copy of the following to OpportunityScholar@Eccles.Utah.edu:
- Copy of Student Aid Report (SAR). Received upon filing with FAFSA or a copy of your Student Aid Estimator results.
- Official high school (incoming freshman) or college transcript OR send hard copy to:

Once started, you cannot come back to an in-progress application at a later date. Please be sure to have all of the materials needed to complete the application in one sitting.
