Recently, Transfer Business Scholars had the opportunity to visit Nashville for a business trip unlike any other! As a Transfer Business Scholar, you’re given the opportunity to travel nationally and network with top executives in the industry. So, it makes sense that while in “Music City,” we visited companies such as RCA Records and the Grand Ole’ Opry to learn about how business and the music industry are interrelated. In addition to the incredible networking opportunity, our class had the chance to write and record a song with Meghan Linsey, runner-up on season 8 of The Voice! Linsey shared her inspiring story of perseverance in the music industry, what it takes to market yourself, and how being an artist is closely related to entrepreneurship.
In between company visits, we made time to take in the culture of Nashville. Between a tour of Belle Meade, a historic plantation, a visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame, line-dancing lessons at the Wildhorse Saloon, dining on the best barbeque in the world, and singing karaoke along the city’s honky tonk highway, we were treated to absolute southern hospitality!
Applications are open for next semester so make sure to apply soon!
