Having the opportunity to travel with new friends in Portland and visit some of the most successful companies is one experience I will always remember. After hearing back from the memorable trips other Business Scholars have taken, I was impatiently looking forward to mine. One we landed in Portland, we got to visit the best burger joint in town, take a tram to look out onto the city, and then explore at our own expense. The popular Voodoo Doughnuts was one place we were determined to try—we were not disappointed.
Being able to visit the Nike Headquarters was incredible as we had the opportunity to tour the campus, along with learn about the company’s foundation. Following lunch, we headed to Vigor Industrial to explore this large ship repair company. Personally, I was shocked at how intricately ships were built. In addition, having a panel at each company visit was great to listen to different employees share their experiences.
Overall, I would not trade anything for my time spent in Portland meeting new people, taking several pictures, eating way too many Voodoo Doughnuts and walking around the infamous Saturday market.
