In September two sections from this year’s Business Scholars cohort had the opportunity to travel to the “Twin Cities” and go on company visits. The companies we were able to attend were Best Buy, Dairy Queen and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Due to the size of our group, we had to split up into two smaller groups. One group went to Dairy Queen and the other went to Best Buy and then later that day we met back up and went to the Timberwolves together. I was a part of the group that was able to go to Best Buy and attend the panel where we could ask questions to different employees who had a different array of positions. and get a tour of their very large campus. Once we met back up with the other group, we headed to the Timberwolves which was just a short walk away from our hotel. While visiting the Timberwolves, we heard from another panel of employees and was escorted to their arena to get a tour.
The day we were scheduled to head back home, before going to the airport we got to go on a river cruise. During the cruise, the students got to know each other and enjoy the beautiful scenery. After we got done with the cruise, we took a bus to the Mall of America and had a few hours that we could spend shopping. This trip was very exciting and fun. It allowed us to break the ice and get to know each other in another setting which I felt helped us bond. I was very grateful for this opportunity and to be a part of the Business Scholars Program.
