Hello, Utes!

We hope you are enjoying your circuit breaker! November 3rd is slowly creeping up, and the BLinc. team wants to remind you that your voice matters both as a student and as a citizen. We are here for you and are happy to connect you with the resources necessary to make sure you understand the voting process.

“I don’t like either candidate. I am not voting.”

We understand that some people may have a hard time voting for a candidate. However, here are three reasons why we believe you should still use your privilege as a citizen to vote in the upcoming election.

1. No vote, no voice

This may be obvious, but elections have consequences. By casting your vote, you are using your voice to advocate for you, your community, and even future generations. Set aside some time to research each candidate and see which will fix the issues that are most important to you.

2. Your community is counting on you

Imagine if everyone thought, “it’s just one vote, mine doesn’t matter.” Many people do! In the 2016 election, only about 58% of eligible voters voted (Post-Election 2016 Recap & Resources). Of course, these individuals may have other reasons for not voting. However, that remaining 42 % may have completely changed the outcome.

3. There are more than just two names on the election ballot!

We are not only voting for a president but also new members of the House of Representatives and Senate. These members also have the power to make changes and implement solutions to issues that may be important to you. We just want to remind you of how important these seats are as well!
