The purpose of the Accounting Club is to help students find a career that’s right for them. Our mission is to educate students about the profession and its specialties, inspire them to consider a major in accounting, and develop their professional skills and networks for long-term career success.

The Accounting Club is a great resource for students exploring majors and careers. We hope that by participating in the club, students see the value of accounting as a career and skillset. If a student chooses to pursue it as a career, we hope they gain a strong understanding of the many career paths in accounting to make an informed decision about which is right for them.

We center ourselves around the four values of the David Eccles School of Business: Entrepreneurial Grit, Continuous Curiosity, Empathetic Global Citizenship, and Confidence to Impact Your World. We see ourselves as a poster child for these values, overcoming many challenges to be awarded Eccles Student Organization of the Year this past April.

Any student at the University of Utah can join our club! Freshman and sophomore students are particularly encouraged to attend and learn from events. We have a leadership team of 11 passionate students and see about 25 weekly attendees.

We hold weekly events every Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m. in SFEBB 3106. Our events cover a wide range of topics to build knowledge, develop skills, and deepen connections. We host informational meetings featuring guest speakers, employers, and presentations by student leaders, professional development workshops, and networking social events.

We focus heavily on getting prepared to apply for jobs and internships! We do workshops on resume-building, interviewing, networking, writing cover letters, and building your LinkedIn profile. The content we cover in our workshops is broadly applicable to any major—just focused on accounting! We also do 1:1 resume reviews through our Canvas page, and we strive to build a community where all our members and officers are equipped to support each other in their journeys.
