Women in Business (WIB) is an Eccles student org that seeks to create an inclusive, intersectional and authentic space for students of all gender identities at the Eccles School. WIB is fueled by the passion of students who want to create a space to discuss issues within the school and broader society.
We create this safe space through our three pillars – authenticity, intersectionality, and inclusivity. We implement these through community building, professional development connections and resources, and connections to other affinity orgs.
All students can join WIBs, regardless of gender identity. It is always great to have people who are supporting our mission and who want to promote our clubs’ values. We have about 35-50 people at each event we host, which are categorized as community building, professional development, and service!
Past events include the “Breaking Barriers Speaker Panel” in partnership with Women in Finance, which highlighted different women who have “broken the glass ceiling” in their industry, our “Northwestern Mutual Personality Test” event, where attendees took a personality quiz then discussed how to showcase their strengths in the workplace, and “Craft and Chat,” a community-based event where we made friendship bracelets and talked about things we were struggling with, excited for, etc. We usually host two events each month.
