Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Transfer students have attended other colleges or universities and completed 30 or more credits.

The Transfer Equivalency Guide is designed to preview how courses taken at other institutions may transfer to meet the Eccles School business prerequisites and major-specific requirements.

Obtaining your associate’s degree in business prior to transfer is highly recommended. If you’ve earned an associate’s degree from a USHE institution, you will be able to apply to Upper Division at Orientation, if you meet GPA criteria. If you have an associate’s degree in business from an accredited college or university, you may be eligible to directly apply for admission to the upper division program to the David Eccles School of Business. If you have received an associated degree in business from a non-USHE school, your individual courses will be evaluated for equivalencies. Information on how to apply will be provided when you attend Utah Bound Orientation.

All undergraduate students complete the Lower Division Business Core prior to applying to Upper Division at the Eccles School; these courses can be found here. Transfer credits will be evaluated to determine whether they are equivalent to U of U courses.

Transfer students are required to attend the U’s orientation, Utah Bound, where they will attend First Semester Course Planning with the David Eccles School of Business. You will enroll in courses for your first semester with members of the academic advising team. Register to attend Utah Bound here.

Utah Bound (NSO) is the University of Utah’s new student orientation program; attendance is required for all students attending the U.

You can schedule an appointment with a business academic advisor to discuss what that pathway will look like. Please visit our front office in SFEBB 1120 or call our front desk (801) 581-7853 to schedule an appointment.

Have additional questions? Within three days of attending Utah Bound (NSO), you will be assigned an academic advisor to support you and offer personalized guidance for your academic journey. You should meet with your advisor early and often—at least once a semester until graduation. To schedule an appointment, visit Eccles.link/youradvisor.
