Student Spotlight: Spencer Poll
Meet Spencer Poll, a senior studying Management and Entrepreneurship at the David Eccles School of Business, who has made the most of every opportunity during his time at the University of Utah. He has been involved with ASUU, Business Student Government, Interfaith U, and LDSSA, steadily building his impact across campus. Across these organizations, Spencer has built a meaningful presence within the campus community.
Spencer currently serves as the Chief of Staff for ASUU, where he has helped build systems that keep the organization aligned and working towards shared goals. He is passionate about building teams where individuals feel empowered to contribute to a shared purpose. He also serves as the Business Student Government representative for the Entrepreneurship major, advocating for student voices and perspectives.
Through Interfaith U, Spencer has helped coordinate events ranging from 60 to 500 attendees and has connected 12 faith-focused RSOs through collaborative programming. His involvement grew steadily from limited participation as a freshman to expanded leadership roles as a senior. The progression taught him that consistently putting in effort opens doors, and it is up to you to step through them.
Some of his favorite memories at the University of Utah include campaigning for ASUU presidency and ending the season by handing out doughnuts to students across campus. He also values his time at the Goff Strategic Leadership Institute, where he built close friendships and worked on consulting projects through the Goff Scholars and Trailblazers programs.
Outside of school, Spencer enjoys staying active, reading, and spending time with his friends. He is in the early stages of building a personal project called The Inventory, a growing book collection rooted in his love of reading. What started as a hobby has turned into a business focused on sharing book recommendations and encouraging others to build their own libraries. If you ever need a book recommendation, Spencer is your go-to!
When asked what advice he would give to other students, Spencer emphasizes prioritizing relationships. He believes the most meaningful parts of college come from the people you choose to invest in and grow with. For him, opportunities often follow the connections you build, so his advice is to make relationships a priority and be intentional about maintaining them.
After graduation, Spencer plans to pursue a Master of Healthcare Administration. He is ready to carry the lessons and relationships he’s built at the David Eccles School of Business into his next chapter.

“Prioritize relationships. Opportunities often follow the connections you build.”
