Student Spotlight: German León

Meet German León, a sophomore at the David Eccles School of Business, majoring in Accounting with a minor in Spanish.

German is highly involved at the Eccles School, serving as the Director of Professional Development for the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) and as a mentor within Beta Alpha Psi (BAP). In these roles, he supports other Eccles students in building professional skills, preparing for recruiting seasons, and navigating the opportunities in business.

His interest in accounting stems from a desire to understand the “language of business” and use that knowledge to guide others. That perspective has shaped his Eccles experience, where he has taken advantage of the school’s strong recruiting pipelines and professional network.

A standout moment for German has been securing his PwC internship, which exemplifies the hard work and involvement he has consistently demonstrated throughout his academic and professional journey.

Outside of academics, German enjoys creative and hands-on activities that give him a break from his busy schedule. He is passionate about learning languages, which led him to pursue a Spanish minor, and he spends time on hobbies like pottery, gardening, and hiking.

German’s advice to other students is to get involved early, especially in organizations that provide real-world experiences. For him, that was being involved with ALPFA and BAP.  He believes these opportunities played a key role in helping him build confidence and career readiness beyond the classroom.

Looking ahead, German hopes to combine his accounting background and language skills to become a resourceful leader who can support others in professional spaces.
