The Rising Business Leaders Live & Learn Program offers exceptional first-year students the chance to dive into a leadership-focused academic experience while living in a dynamic, cohorted community at the Ivory University House.

Rising Business Leaders Live & Learn Program

This program is more than a leadership initiative—it’s your launchpad for success. Combining academic excellence, immersive experiences, and meaningful community engagement, this exclusive opportunity equips you to excel in strategic leadership roles and make a lasting impact.

  • Live and learn together: As you live at the Ivory University House, connect with peers who share your drive and ambition. Build friendships and join a supportive network of students and mentors.
  • Dynamic coursework: Take MGT 1000 (Fall) and MGT 1005 (Spring) with fellow first-year business students, learn about school resources and opportunities, and launch your leadership journey.
  • Real-world experience: Engage with the Goff Strategic Leadership Institute to build your leadership skills and confidence through peer mentorship, Ivory House activities, hands-on learning, and a leadership retreat to Zion National Park.

Ivory University House

Located just a short 12-minute walk from the University of Utah campus, the Ivory University House is more than a residence—it’s a vibrant, supportive community designed to help students excel academically, socially, and personally.

Residents have access to a wide range of resources, including mental health support, tutoring, and wellness coaching. The house also features music practice rooms, a game room, and an art studio. Students in the Rising Business Leaders program live in spacious studio apartments and agree to live according to a core value agreement.

About the scholarship

This Rising Business Leaders Live & Learn Scholarship is a one-year award that covers $9,000 in tuition and programming, plus an additional $9,000 towards one year of housing at the Ivory University House.

Eligibility Requirements

  • A first-year student (starting Fall 2025) admitted to the University of Utah
  • Strong academic performance in high school
  • A demonstrated passion for community engagement and leadership

Students who receive the scholarship must maintain full-time status (minimum 12 credits) for the Fall and Spring Semesters.

The David Eccles School of Business oversees the selection process. This scholarship is generously funded in partnership with the David Eccles School of Business, the Clark and Christine Ivory Foundation, and the Office of the President at the University of Utah.

Frequently Asked Questions

Students will be notified of their acceptance into the Rising Business Leaders Live & Learn Program and associated scholarship by April 1, 2025.

Students must accept their placement into the program by May 1, 2025. Once accepted, students will sign the lease agreement and pay a $400 security deposit.

Once enrollment is confirmed, after the add/drop date each semester, students will receive a direct payment of $4,500 in the Fall Semester and $4,500 in the Spring Semester to apply towards housing costs at the Ivory University House. Resident leases are for 12 months.

The other half of the scholarship – $9,000 is an academic scholarship. It is automatically applied toward tuition and fees. This portion of the scholarship is divided equally between the Fall and Spring semesters.

Students are assigned their studio assignment when they sign their lease agreement (no later than May 15). Move-in is in mid-August.

The Rising Business Leaders Live & Learn Program Scholarship can be combined with other University of Utah awards with the exception of the Presidential scholarship.
