Eccles Leadership and Career Pathway Program

The Eccles Leadership and Career Pathway is a four-year, cohort-based, immersive program woven into the business curriculum via the Business Skills and Experiences courses.

Think of it as your built-in roadmap for making the most of your college experience, with each year intentionally building toward key academic and professional milestones. Along the way, you’ll receive support from start to finish through personalized advising, mentorship, and career development resources.

Freshman Year

Leadership Foundations

(MGT 1000 and MGT 1005)

Start your college journey with a built-in community. In cohorted classes, you’ll meet your people and navigate your first year together, with support from a student ambassador who’s been in your shoes and can help you find your footing.

In MGT 1000 (Fall Semester), you’ll build essential business and durable skills. Then, in MGT 1005 (Spring Semester), you’ll take it further, learning about real-world applications with an introduction to our Eccles Institutes, Centers, and Initiatives.

Sophomore Year

Determining Your Direction

(MGT 2010 and MGT 2015)

MGT 2010 (Fall Semester) helps you map out your career path and take the next step with confidence. You’ll identify your strengths, explore business careers, and make informed decisions about your future. With support from a Business Career Coach, you’ll create a Career Development Portfolio and develop key tools to stand out, like a strong résumé and networking skills, to help you land internships and jobs.

Then, in MGT 2015 (Spring Semester), you’ll build on that foundation by exploring business majors and their career pathways, so you can confidently choose and declare your specialized major.

Junior and Senior Years

Professional Growth

(MGT 3020 and MGT 4035)

Put your learning into action! In MGT 3020, you’ll earn credit while gaining real-world experience through internships, leadership roles, or case competitions, helping you build a stronger resume and apply what you’ve learned in meaningful ways. By the time you graduate, you’ll have hands-on experience that sets you apart and supports your career goals.

Then, in your senior year, MGT 4035 helps you take the next step with confidence, preparing you to transition from college into your career.
