Student Spotlight David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah

Student Spotlight: Fiona Dunn

Meet Fiona Dunn, a junior at the David Eccles School of Business studying Quantitative Analysis of Markets and Organizations (QAMO).

Fiona is actively involved in the David Eccles School of Business through her role as Vice President of the Management Consulting Club, where she’ll step into the President position in Spring 2026. She has also been involved with the Business Economics Society, the Business Scholars Experience, Mariner Scholars Research, the MUSS, and serves as a QAMO TA.

Outside of the classroom, Fiona has found a passion for the Special Olympics. What began with joining the University of Utah Flag Football Special Olympics team has grown into preparing for the Special Olympics USA Games taking place in Minnesota in 2026 with the Utah team. When she’s not competing, Fiona enjoys intramurals, board game nights, book club, and volunteering at the hospital.

When asked for advice, Fiona emphasized pursuing what genuinely interests you rather than simply following friends.

“College is a time to really seek what makes you excited… My second piece of advice is to seek advice from your older peers… I have also learned a lot through their experiences and insights into life at the U.”

Fiona’s favorite college experiences have come through the QAMO department, especially thanks to the Associate Program Director, Hina Baig. From department events to the spontaneous connections formed in the TA room, she has found a genuine sense of community.

A standout moment was the QAMO Chicago trip during fall break, where students visited nine companies over three days. The trip offered insights into management consulting, analytics, investment banking, and startups. While the professional experience was valuable, Fiona notes that the group dynamic made the trip especially memorable.

This summer, Fiona will be interning at Goldman Sachs’ Salt Lake City office in the Asset Management Division. While she’s still exploring her long-term path, she’s excited to gain experience in the financial services sector.
