We are excited about your potential transfer to the University of Utah and the David Eccles School of Business. Our goal is to ensure you have the foundational knowledge and necessary coursework to move into our upper division curriculum and declare your business major.

Associate’s Degree in Business
If you have an associate’s degree in business from an accredited college or university, you are eligible to apply for admission to the upper division program to the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah.*
*Admission is not guaranteed. You may need to take BUS 1050-Foundations of Business Thought, MGT 1030-Responsibilities of Business Leaders, and supplemental math coursework for the completion of your bachelor’s degree. These courses may be taken concurrently with your upper-division courses. Obtaining your associate’s degree in business prior to transfer is highly recommended.
College Business Credits
If you do not have an associate’s degree in business, but have college business credits, you may need to take some additional courses before being admitted to the upper division program at the Eccles School. See the Transfer Credit Equivalency Guide below.

Please review our policies prior to searching for equivalencies for both pre-requisites prior to admission to the upper division program AND major-specific requirements at the Eccles School.
Business Prerequisites
Students are required to complete the following courses (or an equivalent from an accredited college or university) prior to admission to the upper division program at the Eccles School:
- MATH 1090-Business Algebra
- IS 2010-Computer Essentials
- MGT 1050-Foundations of Business Thought*
- MGT 1030-Responsibilities of Business Leaders*
- ACCTG 2100-Introduction to Financial Accounting
- QAMO 2010 or 2011-Introduction to Business Economics
- FINAN 2020-Markets and Institutions
- OSC 2030-Business Statistics
*BUS 1050 and BUS 1030 can be taken concurrently with upper-division classes.

Policies
All equivalencies are subject to the following policies:
- As a student at the University of Utah, your Degree Audit may not reflect an approved equivalency automatically. Confirm your path to graduation with your Academic Advisor.
- In order to apply for an approved equivalency, students must meet the minimum grade requirement and satisfy any conditions.
- The Eccles School does not accept credit from the the University of Phoenix, DeVry University, or Western Governors University.
- CLEP credit and Challenge Exams may not be used to satisfy Eccles School requirements.
Major-specific equivalencies are subject to the following policies:
- Students can satisfy no more than two of their major-specific requirements with transfer coursework. MATH 1100, OIS 3440, and Global Perspectives equivalencies do not count towards this limit of two. This does not apply to pre-requisites for admission to the upper division program at the Eccles School.
Upper Division Core Curriculum
- Students can satisfy no more than 50% of the Eccles School’s upper division core with transfer coursework.
