Ella Bailey is a sophomore majoring in Finance with a minor in Information Systems at the David Eccles School of Business. Last year, Ella completed an internship with The Policy Project.

What was your favorite thing about your internship?
I had the opportunity to join an organization focusing on policy initiatives, where I could genuinely make a difference. Working with a nonprofit was an incredible experience that allowed me to reflect on my career values and envision my future direction.

What was the hardest part of the interview process?
Answering tough questions can be a challenging part of any interview process. It’s OK to feel nervous or anxious about making a good first impression. Remember to research the role you are applying for and practice answering common interview questions. Think about how you can share your story and focus on communicating this story clearly — you’ll be just fine!

What is one piece of advice you would give to fellow students applying for internships?
Imposter syndrome is a common experience, particularly during internships. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and seek guidance! Focus on acquiring new skills that you can carry on into future roles.

Where did you hear about your internship? (i.e., a career fair, your career coach, a professor, etc.)
I learned about my internship through the Goff Strategic Leadership Center
