A mentor is more than an adviser. A mentor provides you with wisdom, technical knowledge, assistance, support, empathy and respect throughout, and often beyond, your educational career. Mentoring helps students understand how their ambitions fit into education, undergraduate life and career choices.
An effective mentoring relationship develops over time. The student benefits from the mentor’s support, skills, wisdom and coaching. Later, both people deepen their working relationship, sharing ideas about the design and implementation of your leadership project.

SMART Start gives undergraduate business students, MAcc students, MSIS Students, and MSF students the opportunity to be mentored by David Eccles School of Business alumni from across various business fields. Students can apply to the mentoring program each fall. Select students will be matched from a pool of dynamic business professionals and will interact with and learn from the mentor during the academic year through group events, activities and one-on-one sessions.
Applications will be accepted August 10th – Sept. 25th
The David Eccles School of Business has thousands of alumni across the United States and a number of programs help our students make connections with those alumni in a variety of fields. Connect U is one of our more transformational student organizations, designed to not only introduce students to a powerful network, but also to help students start to build their own network through informational interviews and ongoing events. Students will leave with a custom-designed network that will provide value for the rest of their career.
