Developing the entrepreneurial mindset among business students is one of the key elements of the Eccles School’s mission. This quality is in high demand among employers of our graduates. Through the Department of Entrepreneurship & Strategy, the Eccles School offers both a major and a minor in entrepreneurship. The courses are more rigorous as all the students have the same level of sophistication with regard to business. These courses will allow you to not only develop the entrepreneurial mindset, but also demonstrate to potential employers that they have that mindset.
The Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute offers programs ranging from deep-dive experiences for graduate students to introductory programs for students just getting started as entrepreneurs. The programs are always evolving, and we strive to provide something for all students at all levels of interest and ability.
Our opportunities include a statewide business-plan series, mentorship engagement, community partnership, scholarships, internships, a medical-device competition and more.
In partnership with the Department of Entrepreneurship and Strategy at the David Eccles School of Business, we also support entrepreneur degree and certificate opportunities.
Each semester a few lucky students will be accepted for this unique opportunity on the basis of their previous academic record at the University of Utah, successful completion of ENTP 5000, as well as the strength of the learning expected in the newly acquired internship or recent promotion in a current position.
This is a joint program offered by the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative and Business Career Services of the David Eccles School of Business. The final decision for approval is made by your department’s faculty advisor. Each application is evaluated individually and applying does not automatically guarantee acceptance.
