Accounting Admission Criteria

Conditional Admission*
  • Admitted to the Eccles School (Upper Division)
  • B+ or higher in ACCTG 2600
  • B or higher in a college algebra course (or a higher level math course)
  • 3.3 or higher University of Utah GPA
  • Currently enrolled in ACCTG 3600 or 3601 for the following semester
Automatic Admission
  • Admitted to the Eccles School (Upper Division)
  • B or higher in ACCTG 3600 or ACCTG 3601
  • B or higher in a college algebra course (or a higher level math course)
  • 3.3 or higher University of Utah GPA
Committee Review**
  • Admitted to the Eccles School (Upper Division)
  • Not eligible for Conditional Admission or Automatic Admission
  • B or higher in ACCTG 3600 or ACCTG 3601
  • B or higher in a college algebra course (or a higher level math course)
  • 3.2 or higher University of Utah GPA

*Students who are conditionally admitted must meet certain grade and GPA requirements to maintain their admission.
**Submitting an application does not guarantee admission. A committee will review students’ full academic records and admit on a case-by-case basis.

  • Even if a student meets the criteria above, the School of Accounting reserves the right to consider the following factors when making an admission decision:
    • Grades in 5000-level ACCTG courses
    • Amount of repeated courses
