First Ascent Scholars Degoal Moses and Brendan Tsang have been accepted into the University of Utah’s Presidential Internship in Higher Education Leadership for the 2023-24 academic year.

This prestigious internship allows students to work with senior officials in the Office of the President to help advance the university’s goals. They attend weekly higher education leadership seminars and provide their student perspective, and collaboration in helping shape the exceptional educational experience at the University of Utah.

“I’m excited to learn more about higher education,” says Brendan Tsang, Junior, “and to work with administrative offices at the U on projects and network with my peers.”

The presidential internship launched in 1992 to provide students from diverse fields and backgrounds offers an insider’s look into the nuances and complexities of higher education.

“I’m excited to learn more about how universities such as the University of Utah are trying not only to bring in more students from underrepresented backgrounds but how they are helping these students complete their desired degree programs,” says Degoal Mose, Sophomore.
