Editor’s Note: The David Eccles School of Business Ambassadors traveled to Guatemala for a cultural experience during Spring Break 2016. This is a series of 12 journal entries detailing their experiences. This experience is written by Claire Harless and Michelle Van Bui.

Day 11 (March 21):

Claire Harless: The next morning, we woke up with some last-minute shopping. We darted straight to the jade shop. While everyone was trying on rings, I found a bar with cement blocks on either side. This is what they use as weights. After we got our last-minute shopping done, we were off to the airport.

Michelle Bui: On our way to the airport, Alejandra and the rest of us wanted to surprise John with authentic, Guatemalan towels. Needless to say, it was pretty heartwarming. As we journeyed on home, I realized how fortunate we all are to live in such a beautiful world. Adventure is always just around the corner.

It was such a bittersweet moment when that plane took off to America. Part of me wanted to stay and explore more of Guatemala while the other half was itching to return home to share my stories and sleep in my own bed. It was surely an unforgettable trip. So thankful for the David Eccles School of Business for the endless amount of opportunities! It was truly an #EcclesExperience!
