After 35 years, Larry Hancock retired from healthcare administration in 2018.  He graduated from college in 1983 and immediately went to work for Hospital Corporation of America.  He served as CFO for three hospitals in Utah and Tennessee.  After completing his master’s degree in 1993, Larry was promoted from CFO to CEO of St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

In 1996, Larry made a transition in his career and moved from the hospital sector to health insurance. He accepted the position as President/CEO of Molina Healthcare of Utah.  Then, in 1998, he accepted the position as President of Altius Health Plans.  In 2003, Coventry Healthcare purchased Altius Health Plans and Larry transitioned back to the hospital sector and accepted the position of Utah Region President for IASIS Healthcare.  He served in that position from 2003 – 2007 and was responsible for four Utah hospitals.

In 2007, Intermountain Healthcare recruited Larry to be its Central Region CEO and he served in that position until 2015.  He was responsible for the operations and development of Intermountain Healthcare’s five adult hospitals in Salt Lake County, including Intermountain Medical Center.

In 2015, Larry made another transition in his career and ventured into the consulting and management sectors of healthcare.  He joined as senior partner with ERH Healthcare in managing rural hospitals in Georgia and Nevada.

In 2016, IASIS/Steward Health Care recruited Larry back to its company to serve as the Utah/Colorado Region President.  He was responsible for five hospitals in Utah and one hospital in Colorado.

Larry retired from healthcare administration in 2018 in order to pursue his current position as faculty member for the University of Utah’s Master of Healthcare Administration Program.   He has served on several for-profit and not-for-profit boards within the healthcare industry.  He and his wife Sherry live in Sandy, Utah and they are the parents of five children and 9 grandchildren.
