Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)

The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is a program of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). This merit award is a tuition discount for first-time entering freshman and certain transfer students who are a permanent resident of a WUE State or WUE U.S. Territory. The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid administers the WUE tuition discount program.

Beginning Fall 2023, the University of Utah offers the WUE Tuition Discount to transfer students from California, as well as those transferring from the College of Southern Idaho and the College of Western Idaho.

Eccles School Scholarship Restrictions

WUE cannot be stacked with any Business Scholars Program Scholarship or Eccles School Merit Scholarship, and only one offer can be accepted. Students are advised to review the terms and conditions of the WUE, BSP or Eccles School Merit Scholarship before accepting or declining. To formally decline the WUE, email a request from your UMail account to the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

The Eccles School scholarship committee reserves the right to rescind scholarship offers at any time based on compliance and eligibility criteria. It is the student’s responsibility to understand the terms and conditions of their award, including actions required by them. If they fail to meet these requirements, then scholarship funds will be rescinded resulting in an outstanding tuition bill for the semester.

Your scholarship offer may be rescinded if the WUE is not declined by Aug. 1, 2023.
