Women’s Mentoring Program helps MAcc students build accounting careers
For the last three years, the Master of Accounting (MAcc) program at the David Eccles School of Business has been making strides for women entering the accounting profession through the implementation of the MAcc Women’s Mentoring Program.
The Women’s Mentoring Program is intended to provide mentorship to MAcc women students with female role models in the industry as they work through the MAcc program and help prepare them to enter the workforce upon graduation. This mentorship program provides opportunities for women students to learn valuable lessons from their mentor and encouragement to pursue career opportunities.
As less than 9 percent of all CFOs and 19 percent of partners at CPA firms nationwide, women have a large barrier to cross with career development in the industry. The MAcc Women’s Mentoring Program is designed to help women pursue careers that will assist in narrowing this gap in the future.
Each year the Women’s Mentoring Program has doubled in size, with this year’s group being the largest ever. MAcc women students and their mentors had the opportunity to meet with each other and discuss goals for the year at a recent successful breakfast event to kick off the start of the program for this year.
More information about this program and details about applying to become either a mentee or mentor for upcoming seasons can be found on the MAcc women’s mentoring website.
