As our world undergoes radical shifts and transformations in 2020, online learning is primed to take the lead.

Since the launch of its online MBA program in 2014, the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business has risen as a leader in online education. The Eccles School has made significant investments in its online learning infrastructure, which includes in-house video production and instructional design teams, student services support teams, and state of the art technology and studios. As it expands its reach into the online Executive Education space, many new classes and certificates will be made available in 2020.

On April 1, 2020, Executive Education at the Eccles School will launch its first ever online Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification program. Lean Six Sigma is a methodology designed to eliminate problems, remove waste and inefficiency, and improve working conditions to provide a better response to customer needs. It is recognized worldwide in manufacturing, distribution, engineering, logistics, software development, retail, health care, and government industries.

The University of Utah’s Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification program is 100% online and can be accessed from any internet-enabled device. This program is facilitated by Master Black Belt Robert Valentino, who will teach participants how to lead improvement projects within their organization through video instruction, simulations, case studies, webinars, and personal mentorship.

“I designed and launched Amazon’s first ever Lean Six Sigma certification program for its fulfillment centers,” says Robert Valentino, program instructor and Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. “In less than two years, I took the program to 18 facilities and trained over 600 leaders, resulting in over $27 million in annualized savings. As a recognized industry expert, it is my goal is to transform the way my students see the world, and I’m excited to teach these invaluable principles in this new online program.”

Utah’s Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certificate can be completed in 40 hours over the course of 8 weeks, with an additional 2 weeks to complete a final test. Once they pass the test, participants walk away with a certificate that is accredited by the Council for Six Sigma Certification.

This offering will join two existing online Executive Education classes: Competitive Strategy and Developing a Digital Marketing Plan. Production is under way for online Finance for the Non-Financial Leader, Diversity and Inclusion, and Ethics classes and certificates.
