Successful back-to-school organization
Welcome back from Winter Break! The Eccles School hopes you had a restful break and are ready to get back to work. We know getting back in the swing of things is hard, but here are some tips to help you through the semester.
5 Tips for Successful Organization
- Divide and Conquer. Take a look at your schedule and determine what supplies you will need. Find a way to stay organized. Get a few 3-ring binders, expandable file folder, pencils/pens, etc. You should also actually print your syllabus.
- Input all major events. Input all your major assignments, tests, quizzes, and paper due dates into your calendar. Make sure to set alerts so that you stay on top of due dates.
- Keep a scheduled study time. Always keep special times designated to homework/study times. This will give you time to focus and get assignments done. Make sure you also find a place to study. Keep a study time and place constant so it becomes a habit.
- Make a weekly to-do list. Whether it is personal, professional, or school-related, make sure you keep a to-do list and accomplish easier goals and so on.
- Don’t overload. Some people like to keep busy, but even the most successful people know a balance between what is too much on their plate. Know your priorities. Between school, work, extracurricular activities, family, and friends, know how much time you have for each category. Those who overload are very unsuccessful when it comes to achieving goals.
