Women in Finance Club elevates women’s voices, builds networks
As a woman entering the business world, it can seem daunting to hear about sexual misconduct in the workplace, the mansplaining, and the constant reminder of the gender wage gap. All of these negative attributes affect the number of women that believe they can be successful in a business or finance major.
Because this typically male-dominated industry has been less inclusive, fewer women look to major in and graduate with a degree in finance.
This cycle can be broken. However challenging it may seem, women can graduate with a finance degree and find success in large financial firms. I created the Women in Finance Club so that women pursuing a finance major can be heard, included, and valued.
It is hard to face these obstacles alone. I believe that all women can be successful with a supportive community behind them. I want to ensure that all women interested in a career in finance will have equal opportunities and support while in college. Our goal is to create valuable connections with speakers and peers that will last a lifetime and will propel them into their dream job.
