Utah IMA Student Chapter receives its charter
Ryan Rees, President of the IMA Salt Lake Chapter, recently presented the charter for the University of Utah IMA Student Chapter. The IMA Student Chapter’s primary mission is to provide support and resources to students interested in careers in management accounting.
The IMA is a worldwide association for accountants and financial professionals working in business. The goals of the IMA are to expand and enhance the professional skills of each member. The IMA’s Certified Management Accountant (CMA) program is globally-recognized.
Tiffany Southworth, IMA Student Chapter President said, “The IMA Student Chapter provides students opportunities to gain information about alternative career paths in accounting and finance. The IMA chapter also helps students learn more about the CMA designation which can potentially increase our earning potential.”
“This is a great opportunity for our students to increase their awareness of the career options available in accounting and finance. I believe one of the best benefits to becoming a student chapter is having the ability to build a relationship with the IMA Salt Lake Chapter. Networking with local professionals who are currently utilizing management accounting in their careers is invaluable,” said Shannon Charles, faculty advisor for the IMA Student Chapter.
The chapter meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. Activities planned for the upcoming semester include, several networking events, a site visit to IntegaCore, panels of industry professionals, and social events. You can read more about the IMA here.
