USA! USA!: Utah Entrepreneur Challenge winner at the World Cup
Student startup KT Tape is in the global spotlight at the World Cup with it’s unique kinesiology therapeutic tape. Athletes wear the tape to support and prevent injuries to muscles and tendons.
The company is a past winner of the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute’s Utah Entrepreneur Challenge, where the company won $40,000 in 2009. It has since grown to sell its product in stores including Target, Walmart and Rite Aid. It is also the official supplier of the U.S. Soccer Federation and is used by soccer players including Jermaine Jones and Clint Dempsey.
KT Tape was started by students at Brigham Young University and is now based in Lindon. The founders got an early boost by participating in the U’s Utah Entrepreneur Challenge, which is sponsored by Zions Bank and is open to all university students in the state.
