For the third-consecutive year the Eccles School partnered with Oracle to bring middle and high school-aged girls to the University of Utah campus for a half day of coding, an introduction to technology careers, chats with inspiring female business leaders, and, of course, fun.

Girls from across the Wasatch Valley heard from a panel of women technology executives, and learned basic programming in the SQL language in the context of solving a database “mystery” case. Eccles School TEK Club members and staff, and Oracle employees joined to advise and help the girls troubleshoot as they put new coding skills to work.

The goal of the U Girls Code event is to give girls a taste of technology and coding, and to open their minds to career options in technology at a young age. The Eccles School is dedicated to supporting women and girls in technology, and U Girls Code is one of several events sponsored by the Eccles School to encourage female-identifying students to pursue technology-related careers.
