Student Spotlight: Biwash Guatam
Biwash Gautam is a sophomore majoring in Quantitative Analysis of Markets and Organizations (QAMO) at the David Eccles School of Business. From leadership roles to student organizations, Biwash is making the most of his college experience and encourages others to do the same. His biggest piece of advice for fellow students is to put themselves out there and take advantage of everything our campus has to offer.
“Don’t be shy and get involved on campus,” he said. “You only get this experience once, so make the most of it.”
Biwash has fully embraced that mindset, immersing himself in student life at Eccles. As the Director of Civic Engagement for Business Student Government (BSG), he is passionate about fostering student involvement and making an impact on campus. He is also a member of Careers in Consulting, Sigma Chi, and First Ascent Scholars, all of which have helped to shape his college journey and expand his network. Through these organizations, he has built meaningful relationships, developed leadership skills, and gained valuable experiences that will help him in the future.
Some of his favorite memories at the University of Utah include football gamedays and the Eccles Welcome. From the excitement of cheering on the Utes to meeting new people and feeling the energy of the Eccles community, these moments have made his college experience even more special. Outside of academics, he enjoys playing soccer, spending time with friends and family, and exploring Utah’s hiking trails.
Looking ahead, Biwash hopes to secure a full-time job in Chicago after graduation, applying the skills and experiences he’s gained at Eccles to his future career. No matter where he ends up, his time at the University of Utah has given him the foundation to succeed. Whether in the classroom or leading initiatives, Biwash embodies the spirit of engagement and ambition.
Keep an eye out for him around campus — you’re sure to be inspired by his energy and enthusiasm!
