This July, Opportunity Scholars from the David Eccles School of Business traveled to Hawaii to experience the all the Aloha State has to offer. After landing in Oahu, students participated in a Maunawila Heiau Service Project, sampled shaved ice at the “Pineapple Experience” on the Dole Plantation, toured Pearl Harbor, and hiked the Waimea Valley. They finished up their experience with the “Secret Island Adventure” at Kualoa Ranch.

Along the way, they visited a local university and several businesses such as The Bank of Hawaii, Western States Lodging, Real Estate Development, and Oahu’s Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism. These tours and visits give scholars real-world insight and a glimpse into the career opportunities their education at the Eccles School affords them.

The goal of the Opportunity Scholars Program at the Eccles School is to support and enhance the educational experience of first generation business scholars as they progress toward graduation. For more information, visit Eccles.Link/opportunity-scholars
