Students in the Opportunity Scholars program recently gave back to the local community by participating in the 15th Annual Craft Lake DIY Festival. This annual event featured more than 350 local artisans, vintage vendors, foodies, youth entrepreneurs, performers, and STEM exhibitors who attended and worked the festival. Students assisted artisans in setup and served as event coordinators. With this being their largest festival to this date, it was no easy task.

The Opportunity Scholars Program is synonymous with service. Each semester, students come together to serve and support the community.

“It was hot, but we were happy to help,” said Eccles student Ingabile Debora. “I felt like our work was impactful for the community. Nowadays, everything seems very individual and what everyone can do for themselves, but I got to see something different: the importance of community and working together.”

The Eccles School is proud of our Opportunity Scholars and this fantastic program designed to support and enhance the educational experience of first-generation business students as they progress toward graduation. For more information, visit Eccles.link/opportunity-scholars.
