The Opportunity Scholars Program at the David Eccles School of Business honored its graduates with their annual Spring Luau. Friends, families, and donors gathered to celebrate with 40 graduating scholars.

The evening began with a presentation of each graduate. After receiving their graduation stole, lei, certificate of completion, and an engraved leader briefcase, each student spoke about their college journey and expressed gratitude to all those that helped make this dream a reality.

After the formalities, it was time to celebrate with Hawaiian food from Mokis and a fantastic show featuring traditional dances from five different Polynesian islands. Two scholars, sophomore John Sotele, and graduating senior Haylie Heale, even had the opportunity to perform dances from the Hawaiian Islands.

“I have been in this program for the last three years, and it all coming to an end at the luau this semester was very heartwarming,” said graduating senior Haylie Heale. “Everyone in this program has helped me graduate. The opportunity to offer my gratitude through my hula dance was a great ending to my college journey.”

Congratulations to our 2023 Opportunity Scholars graduates!
