Students from the David Eccles School of Business proved to be the top young real estate minds in the state at the recent Utah Real Estate Challenge.

Two teams from the Eccles School’s Master of Real Estate Development program placed first and second at the competition, in which students from around the state prepare and present their plan for a real estate development. A panel of expert judges made up of professionals from the real estate, construction and finance communities determines the winners.

Spectrum Development took home the top prize for their proposal — a professional office building in Saratoga Springs. Team members McKell Dalton, Joseph Denker and Bryce Willardson planned to split the $20,000 prize, starting with a celebration dinner at The Cheesecake Factory.

A total of 17 teams competed in the challenge, with three chosen for the final round — two from the University of Utah and one from Utah State University. The other Eccles School team took second place.
