The Master of Healthcare Administration program at the David Eccles School of Business has obtained reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).

The CAHME accreditation process is a rigorous one, but it ensures students are receiving the best possible education.

“We are thrilled that our MHA program has received reaccreditation,” said Eccles School Dean Taylor Randall. “The accreditation demonstrates the rigorous and valuable education our MHA students receive, and it shows future employers that as graduates, they are well prepared to enter this challenging field.”

The program’s faculty recently approved changes to the curriculum to ensure students are getting the most up-to-date information possible. In addition to the dual degrees with which the MHA has been offered, the School will begin offering its MHA as a single degree next fall.

“In the field of healthcare, continual improvement is essential. You must constantly get better at what you’re doing, or you get left behind in the ever-evolving world of healthcare. Ensuring our educational model follows the same standards seems a perfect fit,” said Program Director Debra Scammon.

In 2012, the Eccles School’s program was the first school in Utah to receive CAHME accreditation. The renewal of the accreditation shows the dedication of the school’s faculty and administration to providing the strongest education possible to its students, said Mark Parker, associate dean for programs at the Eccles School.

“This affirmation of the program is a testament to Debra’s vision and leadership, along with the hard work of the entire team,” Parker said.

The Master of Healthcare Administration program is available to students with diverse interests.  Prospective students may elect to focus their studies on Health Administration, or opt for a dual degree format that combines the MHA with another graduate program at the University of Utah, including the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Professional Master of Business Administration (PMBA), Master of Public Administration (MPA) or Master of Public Health (MPH). The ability to chose the right format for them gives our students a leg up in the competitive healthcare field. Regardless of the format, they graduate with depth of knowledge in healthcare administration, business, policy or public health. For more information, click here.
