The job market for recent graduates looks bright, says Natalie Gochnour in this article in the Deseret News. “We have a graduating class that is graduating into an economy, both nationally and locally. that’s in an expansion … particularly in Utah.” Read the full article in the Deseret News.

Graduation season is here with Utah State University, Dixie State and the University of Utah holding their graduation ceremonies this weekend.

A whole new group of graduates are now flooding the market and looking for jobs. So how’s the outlook? According to one expert, the future for new grads is bright despite a recent dismal jobs report.

“This is a great time to be graduating,” Natalie Gochnour, Assistant Dean at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah told 2News.

“We have a graduating class that is graduating into an economy, both nationally and locally. that’s in an expansion … particularly in Utah.”

She says local graduates are fortunate that they are in a state with one of the strongest economies in the nation right now.

Gochnour pointed to jobs in the tech sector holding strong, as well as in finance and tourism. She said energy is the main area where jobs have been cut.
