Five Study Spots Around Campus
Focused study is extremely important for doing well in your classes, and finding the right environment can make all the difference. It’s important to study without distractions to maximize productivity and retention. Fortunately, the University of Utah offers several areas where students can enjoy uninterrupted study sessions.
1. Business School Private Study Rooms
For those who prefer a private space, the Business School offers study rooms by reservation. You can get a private study room in SFEBB or CRCC by contacting the front desk in the SFEBB, emailing rooms@eccles.utah.edu, or texting 801-581-7676. All you need to do is give them your name, UID, and desired time you wish to reserve the room, and they will get back to you fast with a reservation. The hours of availability are Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m.-11 p.m.
2. SFEBB 6th Floor BalconyÂ
While not as quiet as other options, the 6th floor balcony of the SFEBB provides tables for studying with a beautiful view. It’s a great spot if you enjoy a bit of background noise and a scenic environment. It is also close to Cafe Madsen if you want some food or caffeine to fuel your studies.
3. Marriott Library Study Rooms
Like the Business School, the Marriott Library offers an assortment of private study rooms by reservation. These rooms come equipped with amenities like TV monitors for plugging in your devices, and whiteboards. Check the availability and reserve one here.
4. George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Grand Reading RoomÂ
For the quietest study experience, the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Grand Reading Room on level three of the Marriott Library is the best place on campus if you’re looking for a very quiet, undisturbed area. This space offers tables and lounge seating for students seeking the most peaceful and relaxing environment to focus on their studies.
5. Katherine’s Courtyard
With warmer weather approaching, Katherine’s Courtyard is an outdoor oasis at the Marriott Library. It allows students to study outside, enjoy fresh air, and benefit from a relatively quiet and peaceful environment. Learn more about Katherine’s Courtyard here.
