Five healthy habits to help you power through April
April is the hardest month of school. Finals are just around the corner, projects are coming due, the spring weather is tempting to escape to and fun summer plans are inevitably occupying the majority of your thoughts. Don’t worry, we’re all in the same boat. There’s good news — with these five healthy habits you’ll be able to ensure a successful end to the school year.
1. Get some sleep
You’ve probably heard this a hundred times, but it’s really important. Sleep is vital to your mental and physical health. Aim for 8 hours!
2. Drink plenty of water
Did you know your brain is 80% water? Give it some love so it can work at full capacity and help prevent nasty dehydration headaches. Aim to drink at least 64 oz. each day.
3. Eat healthy
This is another tip you’ve heard a lot, but when it comes to finals it’s more important than ever. Besides helping you feel overall more energetic and clean, eating healthy will help you keep your focus and prevent inconvenient hunger pangs from plaguing you during the middle of a test.
4. Make time for self care
Whether that be journaling, meditating, practicing yoga, playing a video game or surfing your favorite website, don’t forget to take the time to de-stress and do what you love. It’s important to take a step back and let your body reset. Even a small break will make you so much more productive and ready to go afterwards.
5. Exercise
Exercise is another great way to remove stress and keep your mind and body in a healthy state. The endorphins released during exercise can boost your mood!
