Earlier in the semester, first-year First Ascent Scholars program students took a rafting trip to the Gates of Lodore in Dinosaur, Colorado. They spent three days and two nights camping and floating down the Green River.
While on the river, students were engaged in team building, connecting with their fellow First Ascent Scholars, and gaining insights into the principles of BUS 3800. BUS 3800 is a course focused on Leadership for a Better World, offering students a framework for mutual support through community-building initiatives. The unique experience led to enduring bonds among the First Ascent cohort of students.
“I would have never thought I would be river rafting,” said Mirna Zeferino. “It was very intimidating when Luis and Javante told us we would be camping and river rafting, but once I was in the experience, I realized I had nothing to worry about. It was such a beautiful experience, and I am very appreciative of this opportunity that First Ascent gave me.”
