Ethics Week offers insight into real-world situations

The David Eccles School of Business’s Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative, the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, and the Hinckley Institute of Politics are excited to present the first annual Ethics Week. Ethics Week will encourage discussion on ethical matters as they relate to the private sector, government, and higher education institutions. The series features speakers from a variety of industries and professional backgrounds to examine salient ethical issues.

All lectures are from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 2018 in the Gardner Commons. Pizza will be served at all events.

Tuesday, Sept. 3

“If You Build It, They Will Come: Creating an Ethical Culture in Business”

Wednesday, Sept. 4

“How Far Is Too Far? The Ethics of Gene Editing”

A panel discussion with:

  • Jeff Botkin, Professor of Pediatrics, Adjunct Professor of Human Genetics
  • Dana Carroll, Distinguished Professor of Biochemistry
  • Erin Rothwell, Associate Vice President for Research, Office of Research Integrity & Compliance, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • James Tabery, Professor of Philosophy
  • Sophia DiCaro, Chief Compliance Officer, The Cynosure Group; Board member, Primary Children’s Hospital (moderator)

Thursday, Sept. 5

“Safer Skies: The Moral Obligations of Flight Aviation”
