Last week, more than 500 Utah high school students participated in a DECA competition held at the Spencer Fox Eccles Business Building.

The Eccles School sponsored the 2015 Utah Regional DECA Competition, providing facilities for the daylong activities and $2,500 in scholarship money awarded to the top competitors.

Local high school students, most of whom will graduate in just a few months, had 10 minutes to present a prepared solution to a business challenge. Industry professionals judged the students based on their presentation skills, creative ideas and knowledge of business management and administration, finance and marketing.

The students also experienced first-hand what it’s like to be a student in the Eccles School, exploring the facilities, enjoying lunch and appreciating the views and amenities of the relatively new, nine-floor Spencer Fox Eccles Business Building.

DECA’s competitive events are geared toward helping high school students be college and career ready. Learn more about DECA by clicking here.
