Gene Shelley is honored this year with the David Eccles Award for Perseverance.
Gene is a maintenance specialist at the Eccles School, and he is the one who runs nearly every event in the school.
“Gene exhibits the core value of perseverance through his constant attention to customer service as he manages the setup and takedown of events,” one nominator wrote. “Some days, these events are back-to-back, all day long, and Gene manages to pull it off, getting thank you’s and notes of appreciation from his customers time and time again.”
With extreme patience and constant dedication, Gene runs events smoothly. Events often have to be changed throughout the day, and Gene usually juggles multiple events every day. But through it all, he keeps a positive attitude and ensures the customer is happy.
