Meet the team: Business Career Services Ambassadors
Business Career Services is excited to welcome this year’s new Career Ambassadors to the team! They’re going to work alongside the career coaches on projects as well as a few on their own; in addition, some of them are also working with the Corporate Outreach team. Please help us in welcoming them to the team when you see them.
Below are some quick introductions:
Business Career Services Ambassadors
Angelica Valencia
Angelica will be a sophomore as of Fall 2016 and is working toward a degree in Accounting. She was born here in Salt Lake City but raised in Kauai, Hawaii. Angelica loves helping others and enjoys the opportunity to impact their lives in a way that can help them move forward in their careers. She would love to attend law school and hopefully work with the FBI. Within Business Career Services, Angelica will work closely with the Accounting career coaches.
Davie Yang
Davie is double majoring in both Information Systems and Operations Management, with a plan of graduating in Spring 2017; he’s also looking into the MSIS program after graduation. He was born and raised right here in Salt Lake City, being a Utah person through and through. Davie is very intrigued with the idea of statistics and will work with Business Career Services in creating and analyzing data for future usage.
Devin Turner
Devin is majoring in both Film & Media Arts as well as Business Administration, expecting to graduate the Spring of 2018. Devin was also born and raised here in Salt Lake City. He’s excited to be working with Business Career Services and is looking to create his own Eccles Experience here at the David Eccles School of Business; working with the team, Devin will spend time on film and media projects for BCS, including promotional and informational videos. In the future, he hopes to start his own film and television production studio.
Elizabeth Reiss
Liz is currently studying toward an Honors degree in Marketing, hoping to graduate in Spring 2018. She is also a Business Scholar, participating in their site visits and activities. One of her biggest passions is education; by joining the Business Career Services team, she hopes to help her fellow peers transition from education and utilize all of that knowledge to help them create their own career paths. In the future, Liz would love to own her own company.
George Nielsen
George is planning on graduating in 2018 with a degree in Accounting and was raised here in Salt Lake City. He enjoys helping others and is ready to help his peers achieve their own goals and prepare for the professional world. He hopes his career will be something that he loves to do every day and wishes to make an impact on society; at the moment, George is working hard to start his career with a public accounting firm. With Business Career Services, George will work a lot with the new Business Career Associates program and help get that started.
Kevin Nhan
Kevin will be a junior starting the Fall of 2016 and is currently working toward an Honors degree in Operations Management. Alongside Business Career Services, Kevin is a part of Business Leaders Inc., or BLinc., and is a liaison between the two groups; he’ll help out both groups with various projects and events. He loves to help students create their own Eccles Experiences and prepare them for the future that lies ahead. In the future, Kevin would love to work in South Korea for a company and help handle operations and logistics.
Melissa Rodriguez
Melissa will be a senior this upcoming year and will graduate with an Information Systems degree. She really enjoys creating opportunities for students and expanding their personal Eccles Experiences during their undergraduate career. She wishes to work at a financial firm and focus on its efficiency as a whole. Working with Business Career Services, Melissa will focus on international students and helping them achieve their goals and future endeavors.
Emily Kummer
Emily is a senior this academic year and will graduate Spring 2018 with an Accounting degree. She was born and raised in Montana before moving to Utah. In addition to working on the Peer Advising Team, Emily will join BCS for the year, hoping to help students in even more ways than before. Once she graduates, Emily plans on pursuing a Master’s in Accounting before launching her career in public accounting.
Julie Ernst
Julie is currently a junior at the David Eccles School of Business and grew up in Heber City, Utah; she’s is majoring in both Finance and Accounting and is expecting to graduating in the Spring of 2018. This is her second year with Business Career Services, and Julie loved having the opportunity and ability to help students prepare themselves for getting a job or internship. In the future, she hopes to work in the accounting or finance department of the fashion industry.
Nathan Johnson
Nathan will be a junior starting Fall 2016 and is a returning Business Career Services Ambassador. Majoring in Finance, Nathan is currently working on an internship with the FDIC and returns as the Fall Semester begins.
Corporate Outreach Ambassadors
Selicia Reyes
Selicia is an Operations Management major with a minor in Health. She is a first-generation student attending the University of Utah. Selicia joined the Career Ambassador team in May 2016. As an ambassador, she hopes to learn how to interact with employers and meet new students at upcoming opportunities and events. Selicia is a member of the Opportunity Scholars Program, Business Transfer Scholars and the Union Programming Council. Her long-term career goal is to someday manage a hospital and open a public library for students in need.
Paxton Finch
Paxton is from a small town in Wyoming called Green River. He is starting his freshman year at the University of Utah where he will major in Computer Science with an emphasis on EAE (Entertainment Arts Engineering). Paxton aspires to use his degree to become a video game designer/programmer. Paxton is in the Business Scholars Program, which is one of the things that led him to apply for a position as a Corporate Outreach Ambassador. In his years at the U, Paxton plans to major in Computer Science, minor in business, pursue an honors degree, be a part of the BSP and learn about entrepreneurship as a member of the Lassonde 400.
Michelle Bui
Michelle is in her junior year and pursuing a Marketing degree. She participated in the Business Scholars and Opportunity Scholars program her freshman year. She served as an Eccles Ambassador her sophomore year, focusing on aspects of marketing and admissions. She received the Dean’s Internship and is currently working with the Corporate Outreach office connecting with companies nationwide. Her favorite part of working is networking with individuals and creating new relationships. She is also serving on the executive board for her sorority Chi Omega. Michelle is an avid traveler and has visited four continents and multiple countries. She enjoys reading, videography and boxing.
Jeffrey Letsinger
Jeffrey joined the corporate outreach team in May of 2016. He is from Boise, Idaho and is planning to graduate in May of 2018 with bachelor degrees in finance and entrepreneurship. Outside of business courses, he enjoys getting outdoors and backpacking, running and mountain biking. Jeffrey is also involved with the men’s Ultimate Frisbee club team. He believes the Corporate Outreach team is a great starting point to meet new people and gain valuable experience connecting with professionals and businesses. Jeffrey plans to start his career in investment banking with the hopes of one day working in private equity or venture capital.
Robin Park
Robin Park is an exchange student from South Korea. Robin is a senior in the David Eccles School of Business in Business Administration. As a Corporate Outreach Researcher, his main role is researching global Asian companies and facilitating relationships between those companies and the Eccles School. Before attending the University of Utah, he was an intern at the Department of Commerce of the U.S. embassy in Seoul, Korea. Robin loves singing and dancing (everybody can easily become his friend once they go to karaoke with him), drawing maps, playing the piano, traveling and interacting with different cultures.
Haley Pierce
Haley is in her final year here at the University of Utah and will graduate in the Spring of 2017 with her Bachelor of Science in Marketing and a minor in International Studies. She was born in Casper, Wyoming but has lived in Salt Lake for the last nine years. Currently, she’s a Corporate Outreach Ambassador at the David Eccles School of Business and aspires to make connections with not only the students that she’s helping every day, but also the wonderful companies that Career Services works with. During her time at the University of Utah, Haley has actively been involved on campus as part of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, Transfer Scholars and now part of the Corporate Outreach Team. She dreams of traveling and doing creative international marketing campaigns while seeing the world. Haley loves being active in her everyday life, as well as in the community. She loves volunteering at the Humane Society of Utah because of her love for animals. She enjoys yoga, paddle boarding, running, snowboarding, dancing and being outside regularly.
Odmaa Dechin
Odmaa is from a capital city of Mongolia called Ulaanbaatar. She is studying at the English Language Institute of the University of Utah and will complete her course in Winter of 2016. Also, she graduated from the University of Delhi, India in Business Economics last year. She is passionate about doing research work and matching students’ need with companies’ needs in the business school. Currently, she is preparing for the GMAT exam and planning to do the MBA program for Fall 2017. She wants to implement Green Energy projects in the world’s most polluted cities after her graduation.
