After a three-month national search, Mayor Jackie Biskupski has chosen a candidate to lead Salt Lake City’s newly proposed economic development department.

Lara Fritts, currently a business development consultant in Virgina, rose above more than 150 other applicants for the position, city officials said in a news release Wednesday.

“Lara’s wealth of economic and development knowledge, coupled with her experience working within diverse and complex organizations makes her the absolute best choice to revitalize the capital city’s economic development efforts,” Biskupski said in a prepared statement. “Lara has played a direct role in bringing hundreds of millions of dollars of economic activity and thousands of jobs to the cities she has represented throughout her career.” Continue reading…
