The decision to pursue an MBA means you are ready to invest in yourself and propel to the next level of your career. Each school offers its own unique MBA experience, each different from the next. At the University of Utah alone, we offer four different ways for you to earn your MBA with Full-Time, Executive, Professional and Online program options. We want to highlight just a few reasons to consider the Professional MBA, our evening program.

1. Remember, accreditation matters. The David Eccles School of Business is internally accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The AACSB is known worldwide as the longest-standing, most recognized form of accreditation an institution and its business programs can earn. Those institutions that earn this accreditation confirm their commitment to quality and continuous improvement through a rigorous and comprehensive peer review.

Not all part-time MBA programs in the state of Utah are AACSB-accredited. Make sure you check for this accreditation amongst the programs you are considering.

2. Immediately expand and diversify your personal network. Professional MBA core classes are taken with the same cohort of about 50 to 60 high-achieving individuals. Within that cohort, up to 40 or 50 different companies could be represented, dozens of different languages spoken, and several undergraduate institutions attended. This will connect you to numerous opportunities and expose you to a variety of different ideas and perspectives.

The PMBA program hosts several program-sponsored networking events each semester, such as student dinners, guest lectures, sports nights and more, that give students the opportunity to connect with each other, alumni, faculty, staff and the community.

3. Learn from those with real-world experience that lead in research. Our faculty provide not only the most current data in the business world because of their own research, but they also bring a plethora of real-world business experience to the classroom. Among our faculty are successful entrepreneurs, former executives and current board members of Fortune 500 companies, experienced diplomats and winners of numerous teaching awards.

4. Tailor your MBA to your interests. The first year of the Professional MBA program is a rigorous core curriculum designed to give you a strong foundation in the major business disciplines. Following that, most of your second year is composed of electives amounting to 30 percent of your total coursework. While the abundance of elective choices can be daunting, our staff can help you design a certain track in a specific discipline or help you choose individual classes based on your career goals and interests.

5. Move up and see a quick return on investment. One of the advantages of a part-time MBA program is the ability to earn a high-quality education without interrupting your career. You can bring concepts and ideas from the classroom to the workplace the next day. Also, while in the Professional MBA program, you have access to our Career Advancement Center and the opportunity to work one-on-one with our career coaches. They will help you develop a personalized career plan, improve your brand, and take specific steps toward meeting your goals.

Based on exit surveys, our graduates reported an average salary increase of 30 percent by the time they graduated. A total of 50 percent of our students received a promotion during their time in the program, and many more received new responsibilities as a result of the skills they gained.
