Levi Pace’s research and teaching support community stakeholders in learning more about Utah’s economy and populations. At the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, Dr. Pace has co-authored reports on the economic and fiscal impacts of the life sciences, tech, and defense sectors. Projects he led also gave insights on education outcomes, consumer bankruptcy policy, and veterans and retirees. His work addresses income distribution and demographic patterns. He has contributed to colleagues’ research on public land uses and state economic development incentives.

For the Master of Public Policy program, Dr. Pace teaches quantitative methods with enrollment primarily from the College of Social and Behavior Science. His pedagogy makes data accessible to more people. Before joining the Gardner Institute and MPP program, Dr. Pace taught economic history and theory courses at the University of Utah, Weber State University, and Westminster College.

Dr. Pace earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Alice Lloyd College, an MBA from the University of Kentucky, and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Utah. During graduate school, he was a research assistant for Utah’s State Legislature, Office of Legislative Research, and General Counsel.
