Two ADTHING students earn highly competitive Under Armour HQ internships
It’s no surprise that the University of Utah cultivates brilliant students. However, we were pleased to find out that two of our very own were accepted into the number one ranked internship program at Under Armour with an acceptance rate of 0.56 percent.
Congratulations to Sam Groves, a Marketing Major in the David Eccles School of Business and Zac Fox, a Strategic Communications Major in the College of Humanities, for their impressive feats. Groves and Fox are members of ADTHING at the Eccles School, which is a student-led advertising agency on campus. This program offers a unique experience that allows student writers, strategists, art directors, and filmmakers to work alongside real companies on real projects, all while being mentored by global professionals. For example, ADTHING recently partnered with FREEB!RDS to create marketing collateral for their restaurant. The hands-on program allows students to stand out amongst a competitive pool like the one Under Armour’s internship program is known for.
With more than 17,400 applicants and only 98 open spots, Fox and Groves were more likely to get into Harvard than be accepted into the Rookie Program at Under Armour’s headquarters in Baltimore. The 12-week internship provides real-world experience in various disciplines all while working alongside executives. Aside from their unique involvement within the company, the paid position offers desirable perks including discounts, assistance with finding housing and paying rent, special events tailored for the interns, and potential employment offers.
Groves and Fox have proven their hard work and talent. We are very proud and excited for them to be able to represent the University of Utah and the David Eccles School of Business at one of the top athletic-wear companies in the world.
