Tips To Start Your Fall Semester Strong

Starting a new semester can feel overwhelming, with new classes, routines, opportunities, and people. But with a few smart habits in place, you can set yourself up for a successful and fun semester. Here are some tips to help you kick off the semester with confidence.

Create a Routine

Having a consistent routine will help you balance classes, studying, and social life. Try blocking off time each day for class, homework, meals, exercise, friends, and relaxation. Apps like Google Calendar can be useful, but even a simple to-do list or using a planner works. The key is sticking to it – routines help reduce stress and keep you focused on your goals.

Prioritize Your Well-Being

Fall semester can be fast-paced. Make sure to carve out time for sleep, exercise, and downtime. Go on a walk through campus, take a break on the Union Lawns, or go for a swim at the Student Life Center. A healthy mind & body help you learn better, perform better, and fully enjoy the semester.

Get Connected on Social Media

Stay in the know about what’s happening on campus! Follow your favorite student organizations, clubs, and campus centers on their social media pages. These groups regularly share a wide range of exciting updates, including details about upcoming events, important deadlines, giveaways, involvement/job opportunities, and much more — all in real-time. This helps you stay connected, engaged, and always informed about campus life, making sure you don’t miss out on anything happening around you

Get to Know the Resources

There’s no need to figure everything out alone! The U offers resources such as the Undergraduate Advising Center, Student Success Coaching, Center for Campus Wellness, In a Pinch Basic Needs Initiative, Business Tutoring Center, and many more. Know where to go before you need help and it can make a big difference later in the semester.
